All About Breast Cancer (AABC) is a program provided by Heritage Valley Health System and funded by Susan G. Komen for the Cure Pittsburgh Affiliate. The goal of AABC is to increase breast health and knowledge of screening mammography among women in the communities that Heritage Valley serves.
The National Cancer Institute recommends women 40 years and older have a mammogram every year. Screening mammograms are done for women who have no symptoms of breast cancer. Screening mammograms can detect lumps or tumors that cannot be felt.
Heritage Valley’s AABC program is open to all women 40 years of age or older, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay for a mammogram. Through Heritage Valley’s unique self-requesting process, you can schedule your mammogram at a convenient time and location. Heritage Valley has seven locations that offer state-of-the-art digital mammography.
Also, as part of the AABC program, nurse educators are available to provide onsite education, presentations or a resource for any group interested in promoting the prevention of breast cancer. To schedule an education program call 866.328.8389.
