Maternity/Paternity Leave

A four-week Child Development/Parenting Elective (Perinatology) is available to residents parenting new children during their residency, without extending their total training time. This elective is developed by the resident with the help of his or her advisor to take advantage of the unique learning issues that parenting and childbirth present. This elective may only be taken once, and is restricted to PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents.
Leaves of Absence

A leave of absence (LOA) may be granted if a resident needs to be off for longer than 14 days or if he/she has used all PTO time. This is unpaid time off, and must be made up at the end of the residency. A resident must have completed six months of residency to be eligible for consideration for an LOA. LOA time granted is not to exceed six months in the three-year residency period.
Moonlighting

Moonlighting privileges are available to PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents.
