--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Volunteers provide a vital community link, representing the health system to the community and the community to the health system. Anyone, age 14 or older, with a strong desire to do something meaningful can apply to volunteer within our hospitals.

At Heritage Valley Health System, you can volunteer by joining our:

  • Volunteer program at Heritage Valley Sewickley
  • One of our auxiliaries

Please note that the Junior Volunteer program (age 14-17 or still in high school) is limited to summers only.

To become an in-hospital volunteer, you must meet certain entry requirements, such as:

  • Completion of an application
  • Personal interview
  • Health clearance
  • Orientation

Once in the volunteer program, a person is expected to participate in annual education updates. A commitment of at least 6 months is required for volunteer participation.

Once assigned to an area, training is provided. The volunteer program gives one the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of friends, neighbors and the community.

Among the activities where community involvement is needed are those associated with:

  • Improving customer service
  • Patient Support Services
  • Career exploration

Many volunteer opportunities exist such as:

  • Escorting
  • Surgical waiting liaisons
  • Gift shop and cart
  • Information desk support
  • Ambassadors
  • Variety of clerical duties

If you would like to volunteer, please complete this application and e-mail it to:
