How long will the Main Entrance be closed?

It is anticipated that the Main Entrance will be closed until approximately Fall 2009.

What happened to the old Administrative entrance?

The parking area was repaved and extended to include 98 spaces. Sidewalks were repaired and a set of stairs connecting the administrative parking lot with the main parking lots has been constructed. This entrance now serves as the “Temporary A” or “Main” Entrance.

What’s happening with “valet parking”?

Free valet parking is located at the “Temporary A” Entrance from 6 AM to 9PM seven days a week. Valet will not be offered on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Why is the digging happening behind the hospital?

It was necessary to remove soil materials from the construction site that were not conducive to the construction process. This soil is being replaced with an acceptable fill material from behind the hospital.

When entering the Temporary A Entrance, where can someone find stair access to floors 1, 3, and 4?

Soon after you enter, there is a stairwell door to your left (Stairwell #4).

Where is the bus stop located?

The Beaver County Transit Authority (BCTA) and the DART bus stops at Entrance D. This is the entrance next to the physician parking lot and the Human Resources department.

When will we “see something” happen in the front of the building?

Erection of the structural steel is scheduled to begin in mid-December. Until then, the contractor will be drilling caissons and pouring concrete for the structural steel foundations.

How long is the construction going to last?

It is projected that the new addition will open in Fall 2009. The GI Lab located on the second level will open first in Summer 2009. This will allow the emergency department to be nearly complete (except for seven exam rooms) when it opens. The renovation of the existing emergency department to provide for the new Heart and Vascular Center will take another six months. Total project timeline is 18 months.

What is being planned for the 3rd floor of the new addition?

At this time, there is no projected use for this space. It will be shell space for future expansion. In addition, the new building is being constructed to hold two additional floors for some time in the future if needed.

Will the lobby area be involved in the new construction?

The lobby, gift shop, coffee shop and Outpatient Test Center will not, in any way, be changed due to the new construction and will remain OPEN. The new addition will add on to the current lobby and provide a means to enter the new building.

Can we still have Christmas in the lobby?

Yes, the lobby will remain open at all times. Light up night will be December 1, 2008.

Where should special needs employees park?

Employees who require handicapped parking or otherwise require an accommodation should valet park at the Temporary A Entrance or speak directly with Ron Farioli, Security Manager.

Where can patients or visitors obtain their car keys after the valet service has gone for the day?

Keys will be made available by dialing “O” and asking for the Security staff.

Which exit is to be used for discharging patients?

Patients who are ambulatory and /or are in a wheelchair should be discharged whenever possible through Temporary A Entrance. All patients discharged via ambulance will go through the Emergency Department. Nursing and Case Management should alert families to this procedure.

When will the coffee shop open and is there a free coffee coupon?

All patients coming to the Outpatient Test Center (OPTC) will be given a coupon for a free cup of coffee in the Coffee Shop. Patients who valet park will receive this coupon by the valet. Patients who self park will receive a coupon from the OPTC staff. The coffee shop will open at 6:00 AM.

What do we do about a medical emergency at the Temporary A Entrance or Level 2 Hallway?

There is a crash cart located in Nursing Administration. Follow normal Code Blue procedures if necessary or call for a Rapid Response Team.

What will happen to the memorial plaques around the trees?

located in areas where trees are being removed. We will send a notice regarding each of these plaques to the appropriate department. Once the construction and landscaping is completed, all plaques will be displayed in an appropriate area.
