Moon Township, PA, (December 21, 2009) – Heritage Valley Health System is pleased to announce the opening of their Heritage Valley Wound
Care, located on the first floor at the Heritage Valley Beaver campus. Heritage Valley Wound
Care offers patients coordinated outpatient treatment of advanced wounds. This is the only wound care facility and hyperbaric chamber in Beaver County.
Approximately five to six million Americans suffer from chronic non-healing wounds. There are a variety of reasons that a wound is not healing, ranging from blood flow problems, infection, diabetes to poor nutrition. Heritage Valley WoundCare provides a significant benefit to patients because it includes an interdisciplinary staff of specialist in one location.
Heritage Valley WoundCare has four treatment rooms which will be utilized to provide the following patient care modalities; negative blood pressure wound therapy, bioengineered tissue, debridement and wraps to decrease lower leg swelling. The normal expected course of treatment lasts 16 weeks. For those patients that do not respond to the treatment course as expected, WoundCare has the capacity to offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy. A trained specialist will provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy via the two chambers in WoundCare.
“We are very excited to offer wound care services to our patient population,” said Rose Nolan, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer for Heritage Valley Health System. “Until now, our patients had to travel out of our service area to other hospitals to receive wound care services. Now we can coordinate their treatment locally with their local primary care physicians to ensure the best possible outcomes.”
Heritage Valley WoundCare is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. To refer a patient or for more information, contact Heritage Valley WoundCare at 724-770-7998 or visit www.heritagevalley.org.
