Moon Township, PA, (December 15, 2010) –Heritage Valley Health System has launched a section of their website aimed at sharing quality data from its two flagship facilities, Heritage Valley Beaver and Heritage Valley Sewickley. The “Quality: How do we compare?” section of the health system’s website, www.heritagevalley.org/quality, provides data on Heritage Valley’s clinical performance, patient safety and customer satisfaction results.
“The healthcare industry is increasingly competitive with customers who insist on receiving the highest level of care,” said Dr. Richard Hogan, chairman of the Quality Management/Medical Affairs Committee of the Heritage Valley Health System Board of Directors. “The new website enables us to share the details of the quality care we deliver and display how care at Heritage Valley compares to state and national benchmarks.”
Heritage Valley’s website includes information on a variety of quality measures that are evidenced-based, scientifically-researched standards of care which have been shown to result in improved clinical outcomes for patients. Specific measures on pneumonia, heart attack, heart failure, and surgical care are tracked and published on the website as well as submitted on a quarterly basis to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Care provided at Heritage Valley follows National Patient Safety Goals established by Joint Commission, a non profit organization that accredits and certifies healthcare organizations and programs in the United States. Data that reflects Heritage Valley’s progress in patient fall and infection prevention measures is shared on the site. Additionally, information regarding customer satisfaction at Heritage Valley is collected through a variety of methods and shared on the site.
“At Heritage Valley, we are consistently thinking about how we can improve clinical care, patient safety and customer satisfaction,” said Beth Schoonmaker, patient safety officer for Heritage Valley Health System. “The people who come to Heritage Valley for care are our family, friends and neighbors. Through this website we are able to share valuable information that helps them make informed healthcare decisions.”
Also included on the site is a list of recent awards and honors that Heritage Valley Health System has received for patient care. “We’re proud of the quality care we provide,” added Ms. Schoonmaker. “This website helps us share our success and progress with the public.”
