oon Township, PA, (September 1, 2011) – Heritage Valley Health System announced today that it will implement GE Healthcare’s Centricity* Perioperative information system. The health system will utilize this system in its 26 operating rooms and surgical waiting areas, which are located at two hospital campuses in Beaver and Sewickley and the Heritage Valley Surgery Center in Moon Township.
As part of the overall information system, Heritage Valley will also utilize the GE Healthcare Centricity Perioperative Tracker software to provide families with real-time patient status information. The Centricity Perioperative Tracker is a virtual “white board” that combines a real-time view of the resources and surgical case events.
Centricity Perioperative Tracker has highly customizable views that allow the hospital to provide detailed displays for the clinicians and management. This helps meet the challenges of running a busy Perioperative service, as well as creating a privacy view of information to patients’ family and friends as they are able to track the surgical process from their arrival to the recovery room. It is also equipped with a management dashboard with customizable alerts to help with clinical and utilization efforts.
“We are excited to expand our Centricity system capabilities with the LCD-based Centricity Perioperative Tracker,” said Kathy Harley, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of Surgical Services/Cardiology at Heritage Valley Health System. “Its screen can create multiple views for both clinical and nonclinical areas of our hospitals, allowing our patients and their families to receive ‘real-time’ status updates of surgical cases. We believe this will advance the overall communication and educational process for patients, family members and loved ones as they navigate the surgical process.”
