oon Township, PA, (August 13, 2012) – The Heritage Valley Health System is pleased to welcome three new members to its Board of Directors. They are: Joan E. Marshall, Esq., Stephanie Perry, MD, and Rebecca Pounds, DDS.
Joan E. Marshall, Esq. is Senior Corporate Counsel, Customer Channels Group, with Fisher Scientific in Robinson, PA., providing a broad range of legal support including customer and supplier contract negotiation; software license agreements; human resources support for a nationally dispersed sales force; and product quality legal review. Prior to coming to Fisher Scientific, she performed a similar role, with the additional responsibility for support of international joint ventures, as Associate General Counsel for the Nasdaq Stock Market in Washington, DC. Joan began her legal career with the law firm of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott, LLP, in Pittsburgh, where her practice focused on corporate formation, taxation and estate planning. Joan received her Juris Doctorate from the Dickinson School of Law, now associated with Penn State, in Carlisle, PA. She received her undergraduate degree, with Distinction, in International Studies from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she was also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society. Joan recently moved from Sewickley and now resides in Beaver.
Stephanie Perry, MD, FACP received her Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, from the Scholars Program at the Pennsylvania State University, and received her medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pa. While in her third year of medical school, Dr. Perry was initiated into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia and joined Internal Medicine Associates, located in Ambridge, in 1997. Dr. Perry is currently President of the Heritage Valley Sewickley Medical Staff and co-chair of Heritage Valley Medical Group. She is also a member of the American College of Physicians and was elected Fellow in 2010. In addition to practicing medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband, raising two young children, and volunteering at her church and children’s school. She and her family reside in Sewickley.
Rebecca Pounds, DDS is a 2004 graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. Dr. Pounds received her undergraduate degree from the Robert E. Cook Honors College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After Dental School, Dr. Pounds moved to Pittsburgh to complete a General Practice Residency at Pittsburgh’s Allegheny General Hospital. Following her residency, Dr. Pounds practiced locally in an advanced cosmetic and restorative general practice prior to purchasing Cantor and Masterson Dental Associates in 2006, changing the practice name to Cantor and Pounds Dental Associates. The office is located on the third floor of The Hartley-Rose Building, located at First Avenue and Cherry Way in Downtown Pittsburgh. Dr. Pounds is very active in the local community and has been recognized for the past six years as one of Pittsburgh’s Top Dentists in Pittsburgh Magazine. Dr. Pounds is a member of several professional organizations and an active member of the Rivers Club in downtown Pittsburgh, serving on both the Board of Governors as well as the Young Executive Council. She and her husband Damian Szwalek reside in Bethel Park.
