Medical-Surgical Nursing focuses on the healthcare needs of adults having acute, chronic and progressive illness. Problems such as controlling symptoms, managing rises, and coping with social and psychological aspects of living with impaired health are considered in light of their nursing implications. Teaching—directed at helping the patient and family reduce health risks assume care responsibilities, and making necessary modifications in lifestyle—is stressed as an integral part of care.
PREREQUISITES FOR ALL LEVEL II SPECIALTY COURSES: NURSING CONCEPTS I & II, MEDlCAL/SURGlCAL NURSING, ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY I & II, MICROBIOLOGY AND NUTRITION.
