--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Academic standing is determined by the quality point system, The academic average of each student is derived by converting numerical grades to the letter grade, and by weighing each course according to the number of credits/credit equivalents.

Multiplying the number of credit hours in a course by the number of quality points derives the quality point average. The term average is determined by dividing the total number of quality points by the total number of credit hours.

A nursing course consists of both theory and clinical practice components. The student must successfully complete both components to pass the course. The theory grade for the course consists of an average of the examinations, written work, projects and participation. Details are included in the student handbook.

The clinical practice portion of the course is graded as follows:
Satisfactory: student met the stated objectives.
Unsatisfactory: student has not met the objectives.

Class rank is determined by the student's cumulative quality point average (QPA). Grades are determined based on the numerical value and quality point rating. The student must achieve a minimum of "C" in each course.

*1) “Credit" assigned to nursing courses does not constitute “college credit” and does not imply nursing courses earn the equivalent of college credit; 2) The term “credit equivalent” assigned to nursing courses is for grading and/or financial purposes only; and 3) Only an authorized degree-granting institution in which a student enrolls may determine whether the completed nursing courses may be accepted for “college credit.”
