This transition course for LPNs is a 25-hour course required for the licensed
practical nurse accepted for advanced placement. It is designed to facilitate
the student's transition from licensed practical nurse to professional nursing
student. Course content includes: delineation of the role and responsibility of
the professional nurse; the theoretical basis for the nursing process and review
and expansion of principles related to documentation; psychosocial aspects of
care; therapeutic communication; physical assessment; IV therapy; medication
administration principles; and perioperative aspects of nursing.
