Esophageal Resection and Reconstruction

Esophageal resection or esophagectomy is a procedure performed to remove malignant tumor of the esophagus and gastric cardia. Esophagectomy involves removing the patient's esophagus and top part of the stomach. A part of the stomach is then pulled up into the chest and connected to the remaining healthy portion of the esophagus.
