At Heritage Valley Health System we employ a team of Speech-Language Pathologists licensed in the State of Pennsylvania and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
The domain of Speech-Language pathology includes human communication behaviors and disorders as well as swallowing or other upper aerodigestive functions and disorders. The overall objective of speech-language pathology services is to optimize individuals' ability to communicate and/or swallow in natural environment and thus improve their quality of life.
The practice of speech-language pathology involves providing prevention, screening, consultation, assessment and diagnosis, treatment, intervention, management, counseling and follow-up services for disorders of speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive. We also provide services to individuals with hearing loss, stuttering, voice, laryngectomy, tracheotomy and progressive neurological diseases. Our services span the ages from birth to the elderly population.
We utilize state of the art equipment in order to assist in our above objectives:

- Visi Pitch
- audio/visual materials
- Language Master
We offer comprehensive services at 3 locations to meet the needs of the communities we serve at Hopewell, Heritage Valley Beaver, and Heritage Valley Sewickley. We also offer specialized services throughout the county. At the Medical Center, Beaver and Sewickley Valley Hospital, we offer Modified Barium Swallow studies to assess and provide intervention for individuals with swallowing disorders. We work closely with the radiology department, nursing and the physician to provide follow-up services for this high-risk disorder.
