Volunteers provide a vital community link, representing the health system to the community and the community to the health system. Anyone, age 14 or older, with a strong desire to do something meaningful can apply to volunteer within our hospitals.
At Heritage Valley Health System, you can volunteer by joining our:
- Volunteer program at Heritage Valley Sewickley
- One of our auxiliaries
Please note that the Junior Volunteer program (age 14-17 or still in high school) is limited to summers only.
To become an in-hospital volunteer, you must meet certain entry requirements, such as:
- Completion of an application
- Personal interview
- Health clearance
Once in the volunteer program, a person is expected to participate in annual education updates. A commitment of at least 6 months is required for volunteer participation.
Once assigned to an area, training is provided. The volunteer program gives one the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of friends, neighbors and the community.
Among the activities where community involvement is needed are those associated with:
- Improving customer service
- Patient Support Services
- Career exploration
Many volunteer opportunities exist such as:
- Surgical waiting liaisons
- Gift shop and cart
- Information desk support
- Variety of clerical duties
If you would like to volunteer, please complete this application and e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org:
