The Heritage Valley Health System dietetics department offers outpatient medical nutrition therapy, including individualized nutritional counseling. Nutrition counseling is delivered by a registered dietitian who analyzes each participant’s medical history, eating habits and lifestyle and designs a tailored nutrition plan. LifeSmart is a diabetes prevention program that is offered through a partnership between UPMC Health Plan and Heritage Valley Health System. It provides healthy lifestyle interventions for adults who have been identified as having risk factors for pre-diabetes or metabolic syndrome. Components of LifeSmart include the Group Lifestyle Balance™ Program, Individual Nutrition Education, Exercise and Fitness opportunities, and Ready to Quit™.
