ClinicalConnect is western Pennsylvania’s first Health Information Exchange (HIE). A partnership of leading regional health care providers, ClinicalConnect will help to improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of care for patients throughout the region by securely connecting clinicians with patients’ vital electronic medical records.

An HIE is an information network that enables the electronic exchange of clinical information about a patient among a group of health care providers.

Patient Benefits
Sharing patient’s medical history — ClinicalConnect allows your medical record to be available at all participating hospitals if you are receiving care at that facility. For example, if you are cared for by a specialist or emergency physician at one of the participating hospitals/health systems, your information will be immediately available to your primary care provider and “home” hospital/health system.

Saves time and reduces cost — ClinicalConnect can help eliminate duplicate tests and unnecessary procedures by sharing a patient’s data. This can mean fewer appointments and less travel for patients.
