Heritage Valley Health System is hosting a free chronic acid reflux and heartburn seminar on Tuesday, April 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Heritage Valley Beaver Education Center.
Dr. Eric Boyle, a surgeon at Heritage Valley Medical Group Surgical Associates, will provide an overview of the latest advances in diagnostics and treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) including the LINX Reflux Management System available at Heritage Valley Beaver and Heritage Valley Sewickley.
“This seminar is a great way to learn about the latest treatment options available, even if you already take medication,” said Dr. Boyle. “Although medications help manage the symptoms, reflux disease can lead to serious complications such as esophagitis, stricture, Barrett’s esophagus and esophageal cancer when left untreated.”
The minimally invasive LINX procedure was initially offered at Heritage Valley Beaver in 2017. Studies indicate that nearly 90 percent of patients don’t need to take reflux medication after LINX implantation. Following the procedure, patients are able to resume a normal diet and activities within a week.
The free seminar will take place at the Heritage Valley Beaver Education Center (Entrance D) located at 1000 Dutch Ridge Road, Beaver, PA 15009. Refreshments will be served. To register for the event, call 724.773.2045, email rcatley@hvhs.org or register online. For more information on the LINX Reflux Management System click here.
