Heritage Valley’s Heart & Vascular Centers in Beaver and Leetsdale have been granted an additional three-year term of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Vascular Testing in the areas of Extracranial Cerebrovascular Testing, Visceral Vascular Testing and Peripheral Arterial Testing. This is the Heart & Vascular Center’s fourth time receiving this accreditation and demonstrates the facility’s ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in vascular testing.
On average, one American dies every 39 seconds of cardiovascular disease—disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Stroke, a disorder of the blood supply to the brain, is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability in the country, with nearly 800,000 new strokes occurring annually.
“Vascular testing assesses the blood vessels and how well blood flows in the arteries and veins in a non-invasive fashion,” said Dr. Jasvinder Sandhu, Medical Director, Vascular Ultrasound, Heritage Valley Heart & Vascular Center. “Vascular testing is integral in the diagnosis, treatment and follow up in patients with peripheral arterial disease, venous disorders, abdominal aortic aneurysms and carotid disease. We are proud that our equipment, processes, and team of physicians and technicians were assessed and given the ‘seal of approval’ through the IAC accreditation process.”
The IAC conducts an intensive application and review process to ensure compliance with published standards, which includes a thorough review from a panel of medical experts. IAC accreditation programs are dedicated to ensuring quality patient care and are widely respected within the medical community.
