Dr. Shinn earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia after receiving as B.S. in Chemistry and Biology from Penn State University. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, Dr. Shinn received a National Health Service Corps medical scholarship and practiced in inner-city Chicago.
She treats patients with a wide variety of conditions, and believes in treatment that is caring, thorough and cost-effective. One of the founders of the Continuing Medical Education program at Heritage Valley Sewickley, she has served as the Department of Medicine chair and was a longtime member of the Medical Executive Committee. She completed a two-year term as president of the Heritage Valley Sewickley Medical Staff, the first woman to be elected to this position.
