Heritage Valley Earns Reaccreditation in Nuclear Cardiology

Heritage Valley Heart and Vascular Center has been granted a three-year term of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Nuclear Cardiology. The accreditation was first earned in 2015 and has been awarded again as the Heart and Vascular Center continues to demonstrate ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in nuclear cardiology.

Heritage Valley Heart and Vascular Centers in Beaver and Leetsdale provide a variety of nuclear cardiology tests to evaluate the pumping function of the heart as well as location and size of a heart attack. These non-invasive tests help identify coronary heart disease and can lead to early detection of life-threatening heart disorders and other diseases. They also enable cardiologists to select options for treatment such as medication, further testing, or the need for surgery or devices.

“Nuclear cardiology studies continue to play an increasingly vital role in predicting the prognosis of patients with heart disease,” said Dr. George Antalis, medical director, nuclear cardiology, Heritage Valley Heart and Vascular Center. “Our equipment, processes, and team of physicians and technicians were assessed and given the ‘seal of approval’ through the IAC accreditation process.”

The IAC conducts an intensive application and review process to ensure compliance with published standards, which includes a thorough review from a panel of medical experts. IAC accreditation programs are dedicated to ensuring quality patient care and are widely respected within the medical community.

In addition to the Heritage Valley Heart and Vascular Center locations in Leetsdale and Beaver, cardiology and cardiovascular services are offered in Cranberry Township, Calcutta, Ohio, Ellwood City, and at the Beaver and Sewickley hospitals.
