Heritage Valley Offers $15 Flu Shots on Fridays
Heritage Valley Health System’s ConvenientCare walk-in clinics are offering regular dose flu shots for $15 every Friday in September through December. No appointment is necessary and most insurances cover the cost of the influenza vaccine. Flu shots are offered all other days at Heritage Valley ConvenientCare for $28 or high dose for $49.
Flu Shot Fridays are part of Stay Well Aware with Heritage Valley campaign to increase awareness and highlight access to important health screenings and services.
An annual flu vaccine is the best way to help prevent illness and greatly reduces the risk of serious complications that can lead to hospitalization and even death. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends getting the flu vaccine in the fall before the virus begins spreading in the community. After vaccination, it takes about two weeks for antibodies to develop in the body. Although it is recommended to get the flu vaccine by the end of October, getting vaccinated later is still beneficial.
The impact of the flu varies and many cases are unreported, but the CDC estimates that the virus results in between 9.2 million and 35.6 million illnesses each year in the United States. This includes between 140,000 and 710,000 hospitalizations and between 12,000 and 56,000 deaths every year since 2010.
Heritage Valley’s ConvenientCare clinics are located in Aliquippa, Beaver, Center Township, Chippewa, Edgeworth, Ellwood City, and Robinson Township as well as the East Liverpool, Ohio Wal-Mart store. ConvenientCare clinics are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday. They are staffed by certified registered nurse practitioners and supervised by Heritage Valley physicians.
