About Us

We proudly claim a reputation for providing high-quality nursing education, one which prepares graduates to enter the practice of nursing. Graduates of our school maintain a high degree of success on the PA State Board of Nursing licensing exam, NCLEX-RN, as evidenced by a consistently high first-time pass rate for graduates.

Graduates are eligible to take the same Registered Nursing Licensing Exam (NCLEX-RN) required of graduates from Associate Degree (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs, which allows entry into the nursing practice.

Our full-time program offers full-tuition scholarships. Please see our Admission Qualifications/Requirements section for information on these scholarships.

Why Choose Us?

  • We offer a strong clinical program built on the foundation of humanities, as well as behavioral and natural sciences
  • Smaller class sizes and individualized instruction
  • Become an RN in just 20 months
  • Our program bridges with area universities and colleges to help facilitate the faster completion of a BS Degree in Nursing
  • Opportunity for a seamless transition with our affiliate PennWest California (formerly California University of Pennsylvania) to obtain a BSN in just 12 months

School Partnership

Addressing the needs of the professional nurse and changing healthcare demands, the school recently entered into a partnership with PennWest California (formerly California University of Pennsylvania).

This relationship enables students to earn up to 30 general education credits while working toward achieving their diploma in nursing.

Students will receive all of their science courses and general education credit requirements from PennWest California via an on-line platform, including a virtual lab for science courses allowing for more flexibility of time for the student.

It also enables the Heritage Valley Kennedy School of Nursing to implement more simulation and laboratory activities to assist each student in their application of learning. Rather than going into the city, all of the hands-on nursing practical training and direct clinical experiences take place within the Heritage Valley Health System and other community sites.

Graduates benefit by having a broad educational base for their nursing practice, as well as having credits to transfer toward their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
