Heritage Valley Health System recognizes the special communication requirements of patients and families with hearing needs. In order to make sure that all our patients and visitors can fully participate in our services, Heritage Valley Health System will provide mechanisms for communication assistance, so that care can be rendered.
Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive listening devices (ALD) are available to help patients and guests hear spoken words. These devices are located in the sterile processing department and are available to loan to patients during their stay.
Amplified Phones
All hospital phones are equipped with volume control for the hard of hearing.
Sign Language Interpreting Services
Video remote interpreting (VRI) on-demand video PA registered sign language interpreter services through DT Interpreting Services, via Ipads, located throughout Heritage Valley Health System, as well as interpreting services arranged at the department level, with the Center for Hearing and Deaf Services Inc, Sign Language Interpreting Professionals and or Steel City Interpreters are available.
Text Telephones (TTY/TTD)
Text telephones (TTY, TTD) are available for patients to send or receive phone messages. Phones are available in all emergency departments and roving units are available upon request. TTY public phones are in the following locations

Heritage Valley Beaver: Outpatient surgery waiting room
Heritage Valley Kennedy: Emergency room
