Podiatric Surgery Residency Program

Clinical and surgical rotations afford the podiatric surgery resident exposure in orthopedics and private podiatric practice. One of the most valuable and attractive aspects of podiatric medicine includes the multi-disciplinary approach to treating the patient. Therefore, residents spend time on vascular and general surgery, plastic surgery, emergency medicine, hospitalist/family medicine night float as well as endocrinology, dermatology and basic orthopedics. Second-year residents spend a 2-week pathology rotation at BAKO labs in Georgia.

The director, Tresa Wize, DPM and the assistant director, Darrick Dominick, DPM are both fellowship-trained with emphasis on reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, wound care and limb salvage techniques. There is a strong focus, not only on clinical practice but also academics with weekly didactic and research opportunities.
