Partnerships with Other Local Specialists
Many of our specialists trained at local academic medical centers and have formed relationships over the years with specialists at UPMC, AHN, Cleveland Clinic and others. If the need arises for a patient to go outside of Heritage Valley Health System, we will assist with referrals so our patients get the services they need as quickly and easily as possible.
Thoracic Tumor Board
The Thoracic Tumor Board is comprised of specialists from Pulmonology, Oncology, Pathology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and others who meet weekly to discuss patients with new diagnoses of lung cancer and abnormal chest CT scans. This multidisciplinary team discusses the best “next steps” in treatment options. With all the pertinent providers in one room, patients can be sure that each individual case is treated with respect and care. This team approach also ensures better communication among providers, as well as better communication with our patients and families.
