Family Medicine Center

Heritage Valley Health System's Family Medicine Center houses the office practice of the Family Medicine Residency Program. The resident physicians offer family medicine office visits, Prenatal Clinic services and a variety of specialty clinical services to patients in the surrounding communities by appointment. 


Residents provide patient care in the following specialty clinics under the direct, one-on-one supervision of a faculty member.


The Behavioral Health Clinic provides the full range of mental health services, including counseling and medication management, to patients at the Family Medicine Center. Services are provided by resident physicians under the supervision of a licensed psychologist and board-certified family physicians. Depending on the nature of the concerns, counseling may be conducted on an individual, couple/marital, or family basis. Some common concerns addressed in the clinic include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, ADHD, child behavioral management and marital and family concerns.


The Geriatric Care Clinic provides a range of services that focus on the special needs of older adults. These services include but are not limited to: • Welcome to Medicare Preventive Visits • Medicare Annual Wellness Visits • Medication Reviews • Dementia Screening • Functional Assessments • Depression Screenings • Immunization Updates • Discussion of Advanced Directives Our faculty geriatrician works in coordination with the residents to provide high-quality care specific to the needs of each individual patient.


The Gynecology Clinic offers our patients comprehensive gynecological care for women of all ages. Our physicians provide compassionate, confidential care for sensitive women’s health issues. Longer appointments allow for extensive patient counseling as well as the performance of many minor gynecologic office procedures. Additionally, all appointments are supervised by experienced Board Certified Gynecologists allowing for immediate surgical consultation when necessary.


Osteopathic manipulative treatment, or OMT, is hands-on care. It involves using the hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. Osteopathic manipulative treatment is appropriate for patients of all ages. OMT can be used to treat patients with a variety of problems including ankle sprains, back pain, abdominal pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, URIs, CHF, constipation, ear infections, headaches, knee pain, neck pain, dysmenorrhea, rib pain, shoulder pain, sinus infections and TMJ.


The Podiatry Clinic operates to provide comprehensive foot care for patients of all ages. Staffed by board-certified podiatrists, the Podiatry Clinic allows patients more timely and convenient access to foot care. A variety of conditions are addressed including diabetic foot care, complete nail care, heel pain, bunions, hammer toes, corns/calluses, warts and flat feet.


The Procedures Clinic operates to provide patients access to clinical procedures that can be performed in the physician office setting. Performing procedures at the Family Medicine Center gives patients more timely access to care without having to go to the hospital or wait to see a specialist. Among the procedures performed at the Procedure Clinic are: skin biopsy, cyst removal, mole removal, skin tag removal, ingrown toenail removal, laceration repair, abscess - incision and drainage, joint and bursa injections, cryotherapy (freezing) of skin lesions, injections to minimize acne or keloid scars, trigger point injections for chronic muscle spasms, and IUD insertion and removal.


In addition to the above Specialty Clinics where care is delivered by resident physicians, the Family Medicine Center also provides the following services for our patients: • Diabetic Nurse Educator • Registered Dietician • Group visits for diabetes and asthma • Lab draws • X-rays
