Mammograms Save Lives!
As part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the third Friday in October is designated as National Mammography Day. On this day, and throughout the month, women are encouraged to schedule a mammography appointment. Mammograms are performed to screen healthy women for signs of breast cancer and to evaluate women who may have symptoms. Combining a yearly mammogram, monthly breast self-examination and a yearly clinical breast exam provide women age 40 and over with the best means of early detection of breast abnormalities. When problems are detected early, women have the most hope of controlling or curing a problem.
