Heritage Valley Health System today received 2,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine in addition to the 1,950 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine that was received last week.
To date, Heritage Valley has administered the vaccine to 600 front line workers and have another 500 employees scheduled to receive the vaccine prior to the Christmas holiday. The organization will continue to administer the vaccine to Phase 1A individuals (front-line healthcare workers) and then move to Phase 1B and 1C as outlined by the CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health.
In order to facilitate the timely and efficient distribution of the vaccine, Heritage Valley developed an automated tool and process for individuals to schedule both their 1st dose and follow-up dose, as well as post the appointments to their respective calendars.
“This automated seamless process allows individuals to schedule their own appointments at their convenience and will also enable the Health System to perform all of the required reporting associated with the COVID-19 vaccine process,” said Jon Zagorski, Chief Information Officer.
