Tess Pokita PA-C, became a part of the Heritage Valley Pediatrics family of providers in November 2018 after receiving her Masters in Physician Studies at Chatham University. Miss Scibilia is excited to start her career in pediatrics and begin to care for the Beaver Valley Community. Mrs. Pokita chose pediatrics as a specialty because she loves being around children-they are so sincere and fun! Since many kids are not able to help themselves when they are sick, she wants to help them through medicine. Growing up, her favorite book was “The Giving Tree”, and she hopes to spend her career giving her very best to every patient she comes in contact with. As the granddaughter of Dr. Julius Vogel, founder of Pediatric Associates of Beaver now Heritage Valley Pediatrics, and the daughter of a current physician, Dr. James Scibilia, Mrs. Pokita is the third generation in her family to care for the children and families in our community. Mrs. Pokita hopes to continue to care for the future generations of Heritage Valley Pediatrics.

August is National Breastfeeding Month
The first week of August (1st-7th) is World Breastfeeding Week. We want to celebrate breastfeeding and also highlight the huge benefits that breastfeeding can bring to the health and welfare of babies and mothers.
Breast milk is free! Breastfed babies get sick less often! Breast milk is easier on little tummies than formula! Breast milk builds baby's immune system! Moms burn 500 calories a day by producing milk! Moms heal much quicker after delivery if they breastfeed! Breastfeeding reduces postpartum depression!
Many moms who start out breastfeeding, may not have the support they need to reach their breastfeeding goals. Besides our breastfeeding friendly providers, we also offer one on one consultations with our Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Liz Brown. Liz is available by appointment in our Chippewa office every afternoon or you can text her at 330.853.2145.
Remember, most moms make plenty of milk and breastfeeding should NOT hurt! Reach out, we are here to support you!
